Based on the principle of work and fun, we have set up a
full programme of superb entertainment to ensure your English language
learning experience is complemented with a fun package. Our experienced
leisure team have prepared a variety of activities guaranteed to give
you that little extra which will make your visit to Malta an unforgettable
one.
Theme
nights and parties, sports competitions, and cultural and leisure excursions
are but a few of the activities aimed at complementing your education
programme.
The pool deck at our Club Village offers the ideal setting
for our afternoon and evening activities as the carefree atmosphere combined
with the enthusiasm of our young group leaders ensure numerous hours of
fun and laughter. Our activities also include night boat trips to Comino
(depending on the season) where you can swim in the crystal clear blue
sea while enjoying the on-board entertainment - to cite just one example.
Cultural visits are a highlight of the leisure programme
as we give you the opportunity to relive 5,000 years of history. Trips
to the capital Valletta and former capital Mdina, two fortified cities
built by the Knights of St. John, are a living memory of years gone by.
Valletta with its straight long streets provides a fascinating contrast
to Mdina with its narrow winding roads.
Malta's sister island, Gozo, is a unique and tranquil place
where traditional values have been preserved and time seems to stand still.
Gozo is renowned for its natural beauty and cultural sites.
Other
places we visit are the Blue Grotto, Dingli Cliffs, the mysterious Neolithic
Temples, reputed to be older than Stonehenge in Britain and the pyramids
of Egypt, and the Three Cities - Cospicua, Senglea and Vittoriosa.
Excursions are normally carried out in specially hired
vans or coaches but we also cater for the more adventurous and organise
Jeep Safaris to certain locations. Students normally drive themselves
around the island following a guide up front. The thrills of off-roading
are also on the cards.
The Clubclass Residential Language School team also organise
beach trips to Malta's splendid bays - where you can enjoy the sea or
simply concentrate on going back home with a suntan!!!
There is a lot to do at the Club Village itself. Relaxing
by the pool deck or taking a dip is always a favourite pastime with our
students while the more active students could trim their bodies at our
health and fitness centre. The younger at heart can also enjoy a few hours
at the well-equipped games room or take some time to sit down and do some
reading at the study centre.

Valletta
Tour
An excursion visiting key touristic sites in the city built by the Knights
of St. John. Viewing the Grand Harbour from the Upper Barrakka Gardens,
the students will get a panoramic vista of the massive fortifications
that protect this historical Renaissance city. Other attractions include
the Cathedral of St. John with its magnificent polychrome marble floor,
the Palace of the Grandmasters which houses the armoury of the knight
and the Maltese Parliament. The 'Malta Experience', a spectacular audio-visual
show focusing on the cultural and historical tradition of the Maltese
Islands concludes the tour.
Mdina
'the Silent City', Rabat, Buskett & Dingli Cliffs
The medieval, fortified city of Mdina, with its labyrinth of streets enriched
by magnificent palaces, houses, churches and an imposing cathedral takes
the students on a living journey back in time. The imposing bastions offer
breathtaking views of the island. Just outside the old capital's 'Greek
Gate' lies the village of Rabat with its churches and Roman catacombs.
Buskett Gardens and Dingli Cliffs are a few minutes away by car.
The Three Cities
- Senglea, Cospicua and Vittoriosa.
This tour unfolds the history of Senglea, Cospicua and Vittoriosa, to
discover the splendour of one of the most important parts of Malta during
the period of the knights. Vittoriosa, known as 'Birgu', is the old maritime
capital of Malta. The Phoenicians who sailed the Mediterranean around
1000 B.C. used 'Birgu' as one of their most important harbours. The sister
cities of Senglea and Cospicua are also famous for the shipyards which
are still in use today. Senglea, built on a grid system like Valletta,
is named after Grand Master Claude de la Sengle.
The
Neolithic Period
The Neolithic temples of Tarxien and Hagar Qim are a fine example of Maltese
prehistory. Malta's rich heritage in stone is revealed in all its mysterious
splendour as one ponders on the mathematical precision and religious fervour
that went into the building of these unique buildings. The excursion includes
a visit to Ghar Dalam, with its well-preserved remains of extinct mammals.
The tour ends with an exciting boat trip on one of the local colourful
fish boats through the crystal clear waters of the Blue Grotto.
Mosta,
Ta' Qali Crafts Village and Marsaxlokk
The
most remarkable thing about Mosta is the dome of its church. The dome
survived a direct hit in World War II and is reputed to be the fourth
largest unsupported dome in the world. Ta' Qali Crafts Village is 'the
place' for local hand-made arts and crafts - an ideal place for souvenir
hunting. This tour ends at the fishermen's hamlet of Marsaxlokk. Here
students can admire the wide array of brightly coloured boats and watch
local fishermen mending their nets and unloading the fresh catch of fish.
Gozo
- the island with the three hills
Gozo, the serene sister island of Malta has a character entirely of its
own. After a short sea ferry trip from the mainland, the tour proceeds
to Calypso's cave, the legendary home of Ulysses. This scenic spot commands
a breathtaking view of the singular red sands of Ramla Bay. Other attractions
included in the tour are the Ggantija Prehistoric temples dating from
between 3600 B.C. and 3000 B.C., the Ta' Pinu Sanctuary, the Azure Window
at Dwejra with its Inland Sea, the fortified city 'Cittadella' of Victoria
and the picturesque fishing village of Xlendi.

Comino and the
Blue Lagoon
An activity not to be missed is a boat trip to the enchanting island of
Comino renowned for its unforgettable crystal clear waters of the Blue
Lagoon. The day is spent at one's own leisure sun bathing, swimming, or
diving off the boat. Comino also provides some of the finest spots on
the islands for snorkelling and diving, with several spectacular caves
to explore.

in Malta.
Climbing,
Abseiling and Aerial Ropeway

are ideal activities for adult students who want to spend an exciting
day challenging nature and enjoying the wonderful views afforded by the
Maltese countryside.
Educational Treasure
Hunt in Mdina
Students will be grouped into small teams. Each team will then be issued
with a pouch containing a questionnaire, notebook, pencil and any maps
or other paperwork required. The aim is to solve as many of the puzzles
as possible in the time allocated. The winning team may then be awarded
a prize.
Mountain Biking and
Jeep Safari
Experience Malta and Gozo's most breathtaking views and countryside by
bike or jeep. The routes are offered with varying degrees of challenge
from a leisurely pace through various country lanes, to hard and rough
offroading.
Caving and Camping
The Maltese archipelago is dotted with small caves and a few larger ones.
As most of the larger caves can only be accessed by boat, this event is
organised weather permitting. For camping, Clubclass provides the tents
and the food, and the students will have to pitch the tents themselves
- with a bit of help if required.
Assault course, bridge building and raft building
For these activities, students will be grouped into teams. Teams will
then be briefed and given easy to follow instructions of how to tackle
the course, build a bridge or build a raft. The Clubclass co-ordinator
will be there to help out and give hints. The winning team may then be
awarded a prize.
Horse Riding
Horse riding can be carried out throughout the whole year, however in
summer we recommend horse riding early in the morning or late in the afternoon.
Students can choose between professional riding lessons and pony trekking
in the countryside.
Outdoor sports
Clubclass can organise various sports activities such as football, basketball,
tennis, etc, at several sports centres in the area. Malta's temperate
climate allows the students to enjoy outdoor activities practically all
the year round.
Water
sports
Clubclass can organise various water sport activities such as windsurfing,
canoeing, sailing and water skiing. Professional diving courses can also
be organised with one of the many approved diving schools who take the
students to some of the most wonderful diving sites in the Mediterranean.
Visit
to The Malta Freeport
The Malta Freeport is a major maritime transhipment centre in the middle
of the Mediterranean. The three main activities which take place at this
transhipment hub are container handling, oil products bunkering and storage
and industrial warehousing. Students will be able to see state-of-the-art
transhipment facilities in action, and learn more about the day-to-day
operations of the Malta Freeport.
Visit to Reverse
Osmosis Plant
Malta's fresh water comes from the sea. Reverse Osmosis is a process which
employs the use of semi-permeable membranes for the desalting/demineralising
of water. Students are given a hands-on explanation of how seawater is
pumped through semi-permeable membranes at high pressure to produce high
quality fresh water.
Visit to Ghammieri
An unusual but very rewarding outing is a visit to Malta's national farm
at Ghammieri. On this excursion students are told about the different
types of crops which are grown in Malta, crop rotation, and experimentation
with different crop varieties. The students can also learn a lot about
animal husbandry where they will get the opportunity to see various types
of farm animal at close quarters.
Visit to Vineyards
The culture of wine making in Malta dates back to the early 1900s. The
climate in Malta is generally warm and there are no biting winds, fog,
snow or frost. Students will be shown how vines are grown up wooden poles
with the foliage trained to cross overhead wires, providing natural shade
and protection for the fruit underneath. Students will then be given a
detailed explanation of the wine making process - from the harvesting
of the grapes, to fermentation, barrel ageing, blending and finally to
the bottling of a fine vintage local wine
Visit to Local Brewery
Maltese beers are very popular with locals and tourists alike. A visit
to one of Malta's two breweries will provide the students with a highly
informative experience of the beer making process from the boiling of
the wort in the Boiling Coppers to the final bottling of the finished
product.

toy factory and home of the world famous plastic figures with their enchanting
homes, castles, wild-west forts and hundreds of exciting accessories.
On this visit the students will tour the entire production process and
see state-of-the-art plastic injection machines turn raw plastic into
colourful Playmobil figures in their attractive presentation boxes.
